Announcement

DBITM - German Backgammon Internet-Team-Championship

!!! Please notice, that this Tourney is a pure national championship.
The english version is for information only !!!

In the announcement the "1st league" was replaced by "Champions", the "2nd league" by "Intermediates" subsequently, in order to avoid the impression that there will be relegated or promoted teams within the leagues.

In order to increase the excitement of the cup competition, its mode was slightly changed: The pairings of the following rounds do not result from the schedule, but are drawn from at the beginning of the round with the remaining teams.

Title
The winners of the Tourney of the Champions will receive the title "German Backgammon Internet Team Champion", the winners of the tourney of the cup competition will receive the title "German Backgammon Internet Cup Winner".

Participation
Participation in the Tourney is subject to German nationality - irrespective of the place of residence. Players with other nationalities may participate if they see their centre of life in Germany and refrain from participating in or for another national association in the future. Registration is possible for registered players of WBIF Germany by email to the Tourney management until 30.12.2021.

  • Registration can be made as a team, stating the name and league. A file with a team flag can optionally be attached.
  • Registration can also be made as an individual player, stating the residence and/or place of play as well as the class. The Tourney management will - as far as possible and with the consent of each individual - bring players together in teams.

Special conditions for team building
Each team must be assigned a so-called venue. A venue is in particular a regular Tourney or meeting place as well as the origin (city or district) of the team members. Venues can also have several teams.

The reference to the venue must be expressed in the name and can be supplemented if necessary. The name should reflect the sporting competition of the Tourney, e.g. BGT Lampertheim, Hannover Scorpions, 24point Manheim, Hessen-Cup FRA. The Tourney management may decide on the admissibility of name additions. If several teams in a venue have the same name, the team management may add a classification mark (number, letter).

The teams will generally receive a German flag. The team can use its own flag if it is ensured that the team has the copyright for it. (State or city coats of arms are usually protected by copyright. However, they may be used here, as they only serve to inform about the origin of the team and in this context do not give the impression that this is an activity of the respective body). If necessary, the flag must be attached to the application as a graphic file.

Each team consists of at least 3 players (regular players) and possibly one additional substitute. One player must be named as team captain. The members of the team must be majority directly related to this venue, i.e. 2 of 3 or 3 of 4 team members. Players with a direct connection to a venue are bound in their selection to a team for that venue. Players without a direct connection to a venue may join other teams from the nearest venue.

Starting classes
The teams declare with their registration to start in the champions class or in the intermediate class.

  • The champions class is played with the Heroes clock setting Live8 (10 seconds per move plus 60 seconds per match point).
  • The intermediate class is played with the Heroes clock setting Standard (10 seconds per move plus 120 seconds per match point). /li>

Location
The pairings will be played at Heroes in case of doubt. Participants without an account at Heroes are asked to register there before registering for the tourney and play some matches there.

Mode
The event consists of the tourney for the champions class, the tourney for the intermediate class and a joint cup competition. The tourney rules for WBIF Germany apply, unless otherwise stated in this announcement.

Mode for champions und intermediate class - preliminary round
Tourneys shall be played in the Swiss system over 12 rounds, or in Round-Robin if there are fewer than 13 teams. All pairings will be played to 11 points with the clock settings specified for that class. Each game will consist of 3 pairings with the players of the respective boards facing each other.

The best 8 teams in each case will qualify for the playoffs. Decisive for the ranking are the victories as a team. In the event of an equal number of victories, the following will decide: 1. direct comparison, 2. the number of individual victories in relation to the number of matches. If there is still a tie, each team involved in the tie will nominate one player for a deciding match. The determined performance rate has no influence on the outcome of the Tourney.

Mode for champions und intermediate class - Final round
The final rounds will be played in a single-elimination system. Teams will be seeded according to their placing in the preliminary round(1st vs 8th, 4th vs 5th, 2nd vs 7th 3rd vs 6th. If the league consists of less than 8 teams, the better placed teams will receive a bye in the 1st round.).

All pairings will be played to 11 points with the clock settings specified for that class. In a departure from the preliminary round, each match will consist of 9 pairings with each player from one team facing each player from the other team. The team that reaches 5 wins first is the winner. The 3rd place will be played in a small final.

Mode for the common Cup Competition
The common cup competition is played in single KO system. The matches of the current round will be drawn among the remaining teams. In the first round there may be several free lots to bring the number of participants for the subsequent rounds to the power of 2 necessary for the KO system. All pairings will be played to 7 points with the clock settings specified for the Intermediates. Each match will consist of 3 pairings with players from each board facing each other. The 3rd place will be played in a small final.

Schedule for champions und intermediate class
The preliminary round starts on 01.01. and ends on 30.06. At the beginning of each calendar month the pairings for 2 rounds are drawn. The matches are to be played until the end of the month. Each team can end the Tourney prematurely after having played its drawn matches by notifying the Tourney management.

Schedule for the cup competition
The cup competition starts on 01.01. and ends on 30.06. at the latest. For the games of the cup competition, a deadline until the end of the month is given in analogy to the Champions or Intermediates competition.
